Spiritual growth through creation: Finding God in National Parks, Family Adventure, and Unplugged Time (with Tiffany)

Season 1, Episode 2200:28:40Published July 1, 2025

Spiritual growth can happen in a sanctuary, but it can also happen on a trail, beside a glacier lake, or under an oak tree at sunset. In this episode of Perspectives into Practice, I'm joined again by my friend Tiffany, and we're talking about how God reveals himself through creation and why adventure can draw your heart closer to Him.

Tiffany and her family have visited 48 national parks (and the list keeps growing). She shares how it all started with a simple "Passport to the National Parks" book at the Grand Canyon in 2017, and how chasing those stamps turned into a family rhythm of hiking, RV trips, and shared memories.

We talk about the parks that stopped her in her tracks, like Glacier National Park, Mount Rainier, and Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The kind of places that make you hold back tears because you're staring at something so stunning it feels unreal. We also talk about the real side of family travel. Kids complaining on the climb, a 10 mile hike in the rain to Iceberg Lake, and then the quick perspective flip when they finally see the view and say, "Best hike ever."

If you've ever needed a reminder that God is creative, powerful, and deeply intentional, this conversation will help you notice Him again. Not just in the big wow moments, but in the everyday moments too.

And if you can't get to a national park right now, Tiffany keeps it simple. A state park counts. Your neighborhood walk counts. Sitting outside for 20 minutes after dinner counts. Unplugging from the noise, stepping away from social media, and choosing real connection with people and with God counts.

We also talk about slowing down, enjoying God, and remembering that glorifying Him does not have to look fancy. Sometimes it looks like watching the sky change colors, listening to water move, or letting your shoulders drop for the first time all day.

If you've been feeling rushed, disconnected, or spiritually stuck, press play. This episode is an invitation to step outside and meet God there.
