Healing can feel impossible when it comes out of nowhere. In this extra special episode, Jessica is joined by her brave daughter, Hadassah, to share a tender behind-the-scenes look at a scary hospital season and how God met their family with comfort, courage, and unexpected joy.
Hadassah takes you back to the beginning, from getting sick at home to the first ER where the IV hurt all day, and then the transfer to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. They talk about the hardest parts, the needles, the vomiting, the fear, and the moment they learned she needed transfusions. Hadassah ended up receiving seven.
And in the middle of all that, she kept telling dad jokes to every nurse and doctor who walked in. Seriously. It became her mission to make people smile, even when she didn't feel good.
You'll hear what helped her feel safe, how prayer became simple and real, and why distraction mattered (including a VR headset experience that made a needle moment feel less scary). Jessica also shares the daily gratitude check-ins they practiced, asking, "What are you thankful for today?" and celebrating small wins like good popsicles, chicken fingers, and sleep.
Hadassah also shares her diagnosis in her own words: warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia. They talk about going back for blood checkups, hemoglobin numbers, and how she defines being strong now.
If you're a parent walking through a medical unknown, or you're trying to help your child trust in God when they're scared, this episode will wrap around your heart like a hug.
And yes, Hadassah's practical takeaway is unforgettable: brush your teeth. Then tell jokes. Because kindness can change someone's whole day.
